The story (Matthew 28:1–10)

Early on Sunday morning, some women went to the garden tomb where Jesus had been buried. But when they got there, the ground shook, and an angel rolled the huge stone away and sat on it! The angel said not to be afraid: Jesus was not there, because he had risen from the dead, just as he said. The women ran off full of joy to tell his friends the happiest news ever.

Memory verse

“He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said.”

(Matthew 28:6, World English Bible, public domain)
